Unlike other Summoning Spells, it forces slain enemies to fight for the Necromancer instead of simply creating minions with fixed attributes. Revive is a Necromancer Skill in Diablo II. Iron golems, when used with the right items, can be more useful depending on the situation. Synergies: Skeleton Mastery, Summon Resist. You could take the 20 points and finish up Golem Mastery and Clay golem, so you have a crazy-high vitality clay golem as well as a decent-life Iron Golem who actually has a little attack rating. Even maxed, I never found mages to be very effective unless you build your character around them. HOWEVER! Keep in mind, even if they aren't your primary damage source, every monster that is attacking a useless mage of yours is a monster who ISN'T attacking one of your badass skeletal warriors.īut that IS going to be about all they are good for. Even in builds that specialize in elemental damage, mages are nonetheless rather weak. This is where many people would say mages arent worth it. Well, in a fishy-type build, physical is your primary method of damage. Re: Mages or Clay Golem and Corpse Explosion

Is this a terrible idea? Should I just continue pumping Vita? I have beast berserker axe, so I was thinking of pumping a bunch into dex to improve my AR and join the ranks. I read a good explanation of why mages aren't worth it by googling "necromancer summoner" but so many people include them in their builds.Īlso, I have 81 str, 30 dex, and 300 something vit. So I guess Im leaning towards the mages, but then I wouldn't be able to put any more in summon resist or the last 3 curses, which I wanted to do.Ĭan anyone talk me down from the mages ledge? Or convince me to jump? Ive never maxed corpse explosion, so on the one hand I am curious to see how awesome it can become, but on the other hand it pretty much does the job as is. My golem doesn't die very often, but then I haven't tried to solo Baal yet, or do ubers. So I have a lvl 80 summoner necro with max raise skeleton, max skeleton mastery, 15 corpse explosion, 10 golem mastery, 10 clay golem, 1 revive, 2 summon resist, and 1 in every curse except iron maiden, life tap, and lower resist.ĭo I max corpse explosion, and pump GM and Clay Golem to 15? Or do I pump my last 20 points into Skeleton Mage?
